Most insurance plans will cover the cost of an initial hearing test.

Some insurance plans require that you be referred by your primary care physician.  Both Medicare and Medicaid require this - Blue Cross/ Blue Shield does not.  If you are not sure, check with your insurance provider.

A complete diagnostic hearing test is $90

A tympanogram is $30

Costs for hearing aids will vary with the sophistication of the electronics.  Most hearing aids are between $1000 and $3500 per unit.

Routine maintenance for hearing aids (cleaning, checking, replacing tubing) is usually about $25 per hearing aid.

Hearing aid repairs will vary according to what needs to be done.  If I can fix the aid in the office, it is usually between $50 - $100.  If it needs to be sent off for repair, it is usually between $100 - $200.

Free hearing tests are an offer to get you in the office in order to sell you something.

These tests are generally not a complete diagnostic evaluation like I will perform.

When I test your hearing I will be able to tell you how much loss you have, what type of loss it is, and I can give you a fair assessment of whether or not hearing aids will help you.  

Whether or not you decide to buy hearing aids is up to you - I will never pressure you into doing something that you don't want to do.
